Sentara Obici |

Sentara Obici is a 23,000 SF ambulatory surgery center on the Obici hospital campus. The facility has two functional operating rooms and two functional surgical procedure rooms plus additional shell space for future operating rooms. The facility is a joint venture with Sentara health system and the attending physicians. The facility is a blend of the existing hospital on one side and a medical office building on the other side. The non-sterile corridors in the facility feature solar tubes providing natural lighting and provides electrical energy savings on sunny days. Parking lights have photo cells so these are only on during dark hours of the day. The mechanical system is a variable air volume system (VAV) with hot water and chilled water as the primary facility heating and cooling source. Direct digital controls were utilized for temperature control and building automation. A packaged medium pressure steam system is utilized for sterilizers and glass washers. Medical gases are run throughout the facility to the surgical suite and Post Acute Care suite. The facility also has and emergency generator to power critical and life safety systems within the facility.
