This project involved construction of a new classroom and
laboratory building for the Engineering Department. The work
included new construction of infill building between Kaufman
and Duckworth Halls with renovation work in both buildings.
The scope of work included plumbing, fire protection, mechanical
and electrical systems. Plumbing provided gas service, compressed
air, hot and cold water piping, fixtures and WV. Fire protection
included wet pipe sprinkler system. Mechanical system provided
air-conditioning and heating based upon Energy Study recommendations,
and interconnected the three buildings. A centrifugal chiller
and cooling tower furnishes cooling, and heating is provided
by two fire-tube, hot water boilers. Airside systems used
variable air volume (VAV) with fan-powered terminal units,
and perimeter baseboard radiation. Temperature controls were
pneumatic. Electrical design included site distribution and
lighting, power, emergency power, lighting, lecture hall lighting
and sound systems, computer/data conduit system, grounding
system, telephone system, security, and fire alarm system.
Project involved phasing of work, using the existing facilities
during construction. |
