Part of a three
building complex, this 6-story masonry dormitory building
featured individual suites for the living spaces in lieu of
the sleeping rooms and "gang" toilets. The scope
of work included plumbing, fire protection, mechanical, and
electrical systems. The plumbing provided gas service, domestic
water booster system, hot and cold water piping, fixtures
and DWV. Fire protection included wet pipe sprinkler system
with tamper proof heads, and a fire pump. Mechanical system
provided a 2-pipe fan coil system with a rotary screw chiller
and cooling tower, and heating is provided by a water tube,
hot water boiler. Airside system for the first floor lobby
and study areas used a multizone air handling units. Individual
rooms incorporated vertical stacked or horizontal fan coil
units for conditioning. Temperature controls were direct digital
controls, electrical design included site distribution and
lighting, power, emergency power with a gas fired generator,
lighting, telephone system, TV system, intercom, master clock
system and fire alarm system.
