Initial project consisted of research and determined practicality
of a double deck concrete floating pier, to serve all classes
of US Navy ships. Project evolved into concept design of a
four section modular pier approximately 1300’ in length.
All utilities will be on the lower deck so the upper deck
remains relatively clear for ships operations. Electrically,
design is presently proposing 8–3750 KVA substations
with 480V secondary power to serve 8 turtlebacks. This arrangement
will handle virtually any class ship and berthing arrangement.
With new classes of ships to be served at 4.16 KV, 10 MVA
substations with 4.16 KV circuits are presently planned. This
will be modified as required when new ships requirements are
determined. Potable water, CHL, oily water, and compressed
air mechanical utilities will be provided. |
