The Clemons Library and Media Center was designed in conjunction
with the University Facilities Management Design Group providing
the architectural design. Vansant and Gusler's scope of work
included fire protection, mechanical, electrical and telecommunications
systems to renovate the third floor of an existing library
to a "state-of-the-art" modern media center. Renovations
created three classrooms, five video viewing rooms, office
and a workroom area. Mechanical design also included modifications
to the existing VAV induction system, piping distribution
system and pneumatic controls. Project also included a new
air-handling unit with heat recovery wheel to provide additional
outside air to meet current ventilation requirements. Electrical
design included modifications to existing interior lighting,
new interior lighting, power, fire alarm modifications, and
telephone/data communication systems. Fire protection design
included CO2 fire extinguishing system for the tape storage
vault.
