Project included plumbing, fire protection, HVAC and electrical
design for a new Cancer Care facility on the Riverside Regional
Medical Center campus. The two story facility was designed
for (2) phases of construction: Phase 1 included the Institutional
portion of the facility, housing the (2) linear accelerators,
the CT Simulator and Brachytherapy services, while Phase 2
completed the remainder of the building with out-patient and
support services (business occupancy).
Plumbing design provided new medical gas (oxygen & vacuum)
services, water, drain/waste/vent (DWV) and storm water systems.
Fire protection design included a pre-action sprinkler system
for the medical equipment spaces as part of the wet pipe sprinkler
system. HVAC systems incorporated (3) rooftop variable air
volume (VAV) units with direct expansion (DX) refrigerant
cooling and a hot water system for heating/re-heat with base-mounted
variable speed pumps. Separate chilled water systems provide
cooling for the linear accelerator systems. A separate unit
serves the Institutional area with 95% final filters and humidification.
DDC controls provide stand-alone building control. Project
included an ISO Class 7 Pharmacy and commissioning of the
HVAC and controls systems. Electrical design included lighting,
power and fire alarm, with provisions for low voltage systems
(furnished and installed by separate vendors), including nurse
call, data, telephone, security, and equipment connections.
