Project included the renovation of the existing 5-story Portsmouth
Naval Hospital to an office/library building. Originally constructed
in 1827 and designed by the prominent neoclassical architect
John Haviland, it was the first United States Naval Hospital
and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
The scope of work included plumbing, fire protection, mechanical,
electrical, fire alarm and telecommunication and data systems.
Each discipline was responsible for drawing research and code
review, field investigation, value engineering participation,
design, specifications, cost estimating and coordination with
other disciplines. All new fixtures, equipment and distribution
systems were provided with the renovation. Chilled water and
hot water systems were connected to the adjacent Acute Care
Facility central utility plant secondary piping systems, with
variable speed drive tertiary pumps serving the building.
Spaces are conditioned with ceiling mounted fan coil units,
provided with pre-conditioned ventilation air from make-up
air handling units. |
